It was a medal rush for Inverclyde Athletic Club at the Scottish 10,000m Championships, with three athletes standing on the podium at Crownpoint Stadium in Glasgow.
Both Paul Friend and Rob Paterson would be crowned national champions in their age groups at M40 and M55 respectively.
A sea of black-and-white stripes competed in Race C, led by Rob – who has represented Scotland at the British and Irish Masters Cross Country International – who finished in a time of 34:41.87 for a new personal best.
Paul would set a new track personal best of 35:39.78 – just short of his 10K PB on the road – to finish ahead of his teammate David Tamburini, who crossed the line in 35:43.13.
Club captain Sean Gaffney would also claim a bronze medal in the M35 category, finishing in 36:04.34.
With thanks to Inverclyde AC pacemakers on the night: Mark Doherty, Chris Mackay, Pete Tucker, Michael Houston and Mark Pollard.
