Great Scottish Run 10k and Half Marathon
Inverclyde Athletic Club enjoyed a fantastic day at the Glasgow 10K and Half Marathon, with 16 athletes representing the club across the two races and producing some excellent performances and personal bests.
A huge congratulations goes to Kyle Brotherton, who produced a superb performance to win the wheelchair race, adding another excellent result to a memorable day for Inverclyde AC.
In the 10K, Nynke Mulholland led the way with another superb performance, running an impressive 36:52. It has been a long and very successful road racing season for Nynke, and she finished it in style with another strong run.
Thomas Jamieson continued his strong comeback, crossing the line in 37:38 and taking third place in his age category.
Next came the mother-and-daughter duo of Caragh and Anna McDougall. Caragh produced a fantastic run to finish in 43:55, while Anna followed with a tremendous 50:36.
Pamela Jamieson completed the Inverclyde AC contingent in the 10K in 1:05:35. Pamela will now turn her attention to a new target over the winter months as she looks to break the 30-minute barrier for 5K.
There were equally impressive performances when attention turned to the Half Marathon.
First home for Inverclyde AC was Greg Williams, who ran an excellent 1:16:06. It was a strong performance from Greg and sets him up nicely as the club prepares for the cross-country season.
He was closely followed by Chris Hunter, who clocked 1:16:37, taking an impressive two minutes off his previous personal best. Not bad at all for a 52-year-old!
Jon Hammerman, who has been focusing much of his recent training on HYROX, showed that he has certainly not lost his running speed, producing a fantastic performance to dip under the 80-minute barrier.
Also breaking 80 minutes, and first Inverclyde AC woman home in the Half Marathon, was Meredith Reid, completing another excellent day for the club.
Max Byrne was rewarded for his recent hard work in training with a fantastic 1:23:54, taking around three minutes off his previous best.
Marathon man John Sharp delivered another very solid performance, finishing in 1:24:47, before Al Myers, who is preparing for the Chicago Marathon, ran an impressive 1:26:37.
It was also great to welcome John Bank for his debut race in Inverclyde AC colours. John had set himself the target of breaking 90 minutes and smashed that goal, finishing in an excellent 1:28:35.
A big well done also goes to Kay Greg, who completed her debut Half Marathon in a fantastic 1:43:08.
It was a hugely encouraging set of performances across both distances and another strong showing from Inverclyde AC.

With the road racing season drawing to a close, attention now turns towards the winter season – and that can mean only one thing: CROSS COUNTRY!
