Jonny Glen

Jonny Glen continues his surge up the British rankings with two new personal bests in the

United States, over the 5,000 metres and 10,000m distance.

Now based in New Mexico, the Inverclyde Athletic Club member took two separate trips to

Stanford in California to compete at the illustrious Stanford Invitational and Payton Jordan

Invitational meets.

The first of these, Jonny obliterated his personal best in the 5,000m by 26 seconds, with a

new mark of 13min 50.21sec, meaning he broke the 14-minute barrier for the best time in

his career.

Three weeks later, he returned for the 10,000m, finishing ninth in the race in 29:19.27. It

was 15 seconds quicker than his best time on the road, and over 50 seconds better than

his previous track PB.

It is expected these times will be good enough to put Jonny in the top 40 times in the

United Kingdom over both distances by the end of 2023.
